about

Welcome to the soundtrack from your daydreams. Western Hero is a nostalgic, cinematic, emotional, and (at times) snarky declaration of frontman Eric Baker’s experience as a indie-rock midwesterner now living in Texas. Tongue-in-cheek but sincere lyrics are juxtaposed with lush strings, lap steel guitar, Ringo-esque grooves, and tight harmonies to capture a theatrical “fish out of water” narrative, perfect for the changing of the seasons.

lyrics

Mama I feel like I could be a Western Hero
Mama I feel like I could be a Western Hero
No need to quote me on that

Mama I feel like I could be a Western Hero
Mama I feel like I could saddle up my horse and go
No need to quote me on that Lord

And the very next time my ticket comes in
I'll find myself a nice sunset to ride off in
I may need to lay off of that hyperbole

Mama I feel like I could be a Western Hero
Mama I'm sad to say it's time I leave my old home
No need to quote me don't quote me on that

And the very next time my ticket comes in
I'll find myself a nice sunset to ride off in
I might fix myself a plate of those grits and gravy
Maybe I'll try some of the homemade mashed potatoes
I may need to lay off of that hyperbole
Hyperbole hyperbole hyperbole

No need to quote me on that
No need to quote me on that
No need to quote me on that Lord
No need to quote me on that

No need to quote me on that
